General information
- Geographic location: Binh Dinh is bounded by Quang Ngai province to the North, by Phu Yen province to the South, by Gia Lai province to the West and by the sea to the East.
- Area: 6,039.6 km2
- Topographic features: Topography includes both midland and plain.
- Administrative units: The province is divided into 1 city (Quy Nhon city) and 10 districts: An Nhon, Hoai Nhon, Tuy Phuoc, Tay Son, Phu My, Phu Cat, An Lao, Hoai An, Vinh Thanh, Van Canh.
 - Population: 1,489,900 people 
Resources
- Natural resources: The province has nearly 117,000 hectares of agricultural land, 202,700 hectares of forestry land (including 154,400 hectares of natural forestry land), nearly 200,000 hectares of unused land which can be exploited for agriculture-forestry-fishery development. Besides, the province has 134km long coastal line with 3 big bays (Quy Nhon, De Gi and Tam Quan), Thi Nai lagoon and other lagoons, many valuable seafood and aquatic products. The province is not rich in mineral resources but it has several valuable ones such as construction stones, titan ore, mineral water, kaolin, white sand.
- Tourism resources: The province is planned to be a tourist spot in the national tourism network with its famous places of interest such as Thi Nai lagoon, lake in Mot mountain, Hoi Van mineral stream, Ham Ho, etc.
- Human resources: The province had young labour force with 56.7% of labourers under 30 years old (in 1993). The number of trained labourers is 39,819 accounting for 10.2% (the same as national rate but higher than that of the South Central Coastal) including 15,459 high level technicians, 14,966 professional school gradates, 9,316 university & college graduates, 78 holders of master’s, doctor’s degrees and above. The province is one of the provinces/cities with big number of high standard scientists and engineers. 
Infrastructures
- Transportation system: The system is quite synchronous. There are several important national highways (1A, 1D, 19) running through the province. The province has over 200 km of North-South railway route with Dieu Tri station (one of the 6 largest stations of the country), allowing the passengers and goods transportation to almost all key economic zones of the countries and widening tourism network. The province’s Quy Nhon international sea port which is one of the 10 largest sea ports of the country can allow the circulation of domestic and international ships. Phu Cat airport with regular flights connects the province with Da nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city.
- Power supply system: The province is supplied with electricity from the national power network meeting local households and production demand. At present, all communes are supplied with electricity, in which 151/155 communes are supplied electricity from the national network, the rest 4 communes get diesel electricity supplied by the province.
- Water supply system: The capacity of the system in Quy Nhon city is 20,000m3/day (planned to be increased to 45,000 m3/day soon). There are also supply systems in other places.
 - Post and telecommunication system: The system is quite good in Binh Dinh. The numbers of telephones per 100 persons is 3.6 in 2002, 5-6 in 2005 and 12-15 in 2010; direct internet with the speed of 6 Mbps (3 line narrow band) and wide band ADSL ensuring high speed transmission; the internet portal connected to the network with the speed of 34 Mbps. There are all kinds of post telecommunication services available in Binh Dinh.
 - Industrial zones: The province has 3 industrial zones: Phú Tài (350 ha) in Trần Quang Diệu và Bùi Thị Xuân districts, Quy Nhơn city; Hoà Hội (265 ha) in Phù Cát district; Nhơn Hoà (272 ha) inAn Nhơn district.
