General information
 - Geographic location: Da Nang is bounded by Thua Thien – Hue to the North, by Quang Nam by the West and South and by the sea to the East. 
- Area: 1,257.3 km2
- Topographic features: The city’s topography is quite complicated with both plains and mountains. High and steep mountains are mainly found in the West and North-West where many mountain ranges run to the sea. There are also low hills situated among narrow coastal plains.
- Administrative units: The city is divided into urban 6 districts: Hải Châu, Thanh Khê, Sơn Trà, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Liên Chiểu, Cẩm Lệ and two suburban districts: Hoà Vang and Hoàng Sa.
- Population:  911,000 people 
 - Natural resources: The city has the area of 1,255.53 km2 with various types of land such as red soil, alkaline and alluvial soil, etc, in which the most important one is alluvial soil in coastal plains suitable for intensive paddy growing, fruit trees; Yellow-red soil in hills and mountains is suitable for growing long-term industrial crops, special crops, etc. The city also has plentiful and various mineral resources such as white sand in Nam O, granite in Non Nuoc, schist in Hoa Bac, laterir in Phuoc Ninh, etc. 15,000km2 large sea is a habitant for about 266 species including 16 valuable ones (11 kins of shirpm, 2 kinds of cuttlefish and 3 kinds of seaweed), The estimated capacity is approx. 1,136,000 tons.
- Tourism resources: Da Nang is well-known as a very beautiful city with Han river, 70km coastal line with many beautiful beaches. Its attractions cannot be found in other beach cities of the country. It has lots of famous places of interest such as Son Tra peninsular (with stone stream, Bãi Bụt, Bãi Rạng), Ba Na – Mo stream ecology tourism center (considered as Da Lat or Sapa), Ngu Hanh Son, etc. Da Nang has 70km coastal line with manybeaches that own the unique beauty from other beaches in the country. Da Nang also attracts tourists by many different attractions such as Son Tra semi-island, Hai Van pass, Cham sculpture Museum, Ba Na hill which has two cable cars line achieved two Guinness records. Another advantage of the city is well developed tourism infrastructure including many international standard resorts such as Hyatt, Marriot, Le Meridien, Hilton and Somerset). The clean and safe environment is competitive advantage of the city to develop tourism. Moreover, It is so convenientfor passengers to travel from Da Nang to many famous places in the country such as four out of five World Heritages of Vietnam which ares Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park, Hue ancient capital, My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An ancient street.
- Human resources: Quality of the city’s labour force is considered to be the best in the Central Coast and Central Highlands. Trained labourers account for one fourth of the labour force. Labourers are professional, active, enthusiastic, responsible and eagle to learn. Labour cost is low in Da Nang in comparison to that of other cities in the country.
- Transportation system: The system is quite convenient with all 4 means of transportation: roadway, railway, seaway and airway. Roadway: There are two important national highways (1A & 1B) running through the city. Railway: The North-South railway route runs through the city with stations of Da Nang, Thanh Khe, Kim Lien, Hai Van Nam creating favourable conditions for goods and passenger transportation. Seaway: It is quite convenient with seaway routes to almost all large ports of Vietnam and the world. There are two large sea ports which are Tien Sa and Han river port. Airway: Da Nang international airport with the area of 150 hectares, two runways makes the transportation more convenient with 84 domestic and 6 international flights (to Hong Kong and Thailand) every week.
- Power supply system: Da Nang is sufficiently supplied with electricity by Hoa Binh hydro-electricity plant through the North- South 500 KV super high voltage line meeting demand for power of households and production. All communes in Hoa Vang district are supplied with electricity for households and production. At present, the city is investing on expanding the North- South 500 KV super high voltage line.  
- Water supply system: There are 3 water supply plants in the city. Cau Do water supply plant uses horizontal semimetal – quick filter bed – liquid clo with the capacity of 50,000m3/day.  
- Post and telecommunication system: Being 1 of the 3 largest post & telecommunication centers of the country, with international optical cable route and international sea cable tower (in Hoa Hai ward of Ngu Hanh Son district), Da Nang is capable of meeting all demands for post& telecommunication of organizations and individuals in the city, the Cetral coast and the Central Highlands.
- Industrial zones:  The city has 8 industrial zones and High-tech industrial parks: Da Nang IZ (50 hectares), Hoa Khanh IZ (395.72 hectares), Lien Chieu IZ (307.71 hectares), Hoa Cam IZ (120 hectares), Dan Nang seafood services area (57.9 hectares), Da Nang high-tech industrial park (1,101 hectares) and Information industrial park (131 hectares).

- Growth rate: The city’s growth rate was approx. 11-12% per year in the period of 2006-2010. The average GDP per capita was 2,000 USD per year.
